CSV cleanup / contacts

Remove duplicate contacts by email

A clear matching rule helps you keep one row per email address without silently overwriting the values in your source file.

Decide what “same contact” means

Two rows can have the same email address and different names, phone numbers, or notes. Comparing entire rows will keep both. If your goal is one contact per email, select the email column as the matching key. Rows with no email in the selected key stay in the output for review; a blank address is not a reliable identity. Inspect those contacts separately before import.

Run the cleanup in four steps

  1. Export your contacts as CSV or TSV and keep a backup.
  2. Open the duplicate row remover, load the file, and choose Selected columns.
  3. Select the email column. If addresses differ only by letter case or spaces around them, turn on the corresponding comparison options.
  4. Choose whether to keep the first or last matching row. Review both kept and removed previews before downloading.

Trim and case options change the comparison only. The downloaded field values remain as they were in the chosen original row.

When first or last is the wrong rule

If the best record is whichever has the most complete phone, address, or consent information, neither first nor last is enough. Sort and review the file yourself before using this tool, or merge those rows manually. This tool removes matching rows; it does not combine fields from two contacts.

After export, spot-check several duplicates, including an address with mixed case and one with surrounding spaces. Check the row count and preserve your backup until the cleaned file has been accepted by the destination system.

Privacy and file handling

The file is processed in your browser. Nothing needs to be uploaded to run the deduplication, and no account is required. Download the cleaned CSV to your device and use your normal process for storing contact data.
